First, for anyone interested, I have rolled out a new nutrition-related site, PerformanceStack.com. If you go on there, you can view other people’s nutritional supplement stacks, create and share your own, and best of all: compare prices on different sites that carry your favorite supplements. It’s in beta form right now, and we’re working through some issues, but it should be halfway usable (or fully usable, but missing products and site links…both of which are mostly out of my control). You can check out the blog for more information. Please go on there, register, create your own performance stack, and rate/comment on products. Any help getting some activity going is […]

If, by chance, you have not heard of this clusterfuck yet, Google it and read some. I’m not going to rehash the details (except as necessary to illustrate my point), since they’ve been discussed everywhere else, and they’re not particularly relevant to the issue. I’m not going to state an opinion on whether there have been violations of his civil rights or not (and if you make it to the end of this post, it should be obvious why), but I am simply going to use some of the events surrounding this incident to illustrate a point. So, in fact, it’s worth noting that I have not done a significant amount […]

Someone recently pointed me to this blog, and it spurred my to go ahead and write this one, which I had been delaying writing until I had more time. For those of you interested mostly in startups/entrepreneurship, you may want to skip the first part, since it’s mostly me prancing around on my high horse. Raising Taxes As it stands, there’s this continuous debate over raising taxes and cutting spending. Being fairly conservative (of the Libertarian type), one would guess that I’d probably be against raising taxes. Sadly, this is not the case at all. Even though I think cutting spending is the number one thing that should be done, I […]

I have three or four blog posts in the works, but nothing will happen on them until the end of the month. They’re all fairly extensive, and between trying to study for the bar exam and some personal projects done, I don’t have the time. But, I’m going to go ahead and take the time to do this post, and probably one more while the information is still fresh in my mind. Background As I just mentioned, I’ve been working on some personal projects. Mainly one big project with some small variations on that one. Basically, it’s just a pretty straightforward web application. Up until a couple months ago, I […]

No, really…think again. I think I got interested in buying my own place pretty soon after I graduated from college, in 2006. It wasn’t something I wanted to rush into; I was definitely going to spend money to satisfy some of the desires I had while I was in college, like buying a new car. But at the same time, it was in my mind, and I would frequently look to see what was available, while also building up money for a down payment. Then the market crashed. Perfect for me, so I started looking for a place in hopes I could get something fairly cheap. I ended up buying […]

I’ve been working out pretty regularly since the beginning of 2007, and stopped doing stupid crap in the gym in August of that year. Since then I’ve gotten a lot bigger. It’s hard to gauge how much fat I’ve put on, comparing my peak weight with my starting weight, but I think I managed to end up with about the same body fat percentage, just forty pounds or so heavier (I managed to go from ~185 lbs. being mostly sedentary to a peak of about 225 lbs.). The entire time I had underestimated my body fat percentage, which is not unusual. A while back I let my hubris get in […]

Sous Vide Cream Cheese and Jalapeño Stuffed Pork Tenderloin wrapped in Bacon

I was at the grocery store a week or two ago I saw a local place called La Boucherie was selling frozen pork tenderloins that were as stated in the title. I baked it like it said, and it was good, but I thought I could do better. I am deathly afraid of having too little cream cheese, which is something they skimped on. So, I bought a two and a half pound pack of pork tenderloin (a pair) and went to town. I used one package (bar?) of cream cheese per tenderloin. Definitely more than necessary, probably could have used half. But seriously, impossible to have too much cream cheese. […]
