I got to the gym around 11:15 A.M. today, so it was a bit cooler than Sunday. Still not pleasant. LBS 175 lbs. – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 Soreness went away pretty quickly, or at least didn’t impact my workout. The weight is easy, breathing in the heat is not. Focused on keeping my lower back extended by keeping my abs tight and not going quite as deep as I had been. Alright, so I have been out of the gym since March 27th (don’t go off the fact that I didn’t post the last few workouts on here). I knew that I might be moving at any point, so I figured I’d take a break until I managed to get settled in. Only I haven’t moved and it’s been long enough that I have to get back. LBS 175 lbs. – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 These are, if anything, getting easier. Definitely getting an appropriate bounce, and it is noticeably less when I don’t set my lower back properly (as would make sense). Started to shorten my rest between sets in a hope to get my conditioning back to acceptable quicker. It’s still coming back quite rapidly, though, as these were easier than the ones at 155 lbs. LBS 165 lbs. – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 Nothing much to report here. Lifted on a squat rack that has fixed safety bars, which were right below proper depth for me, and managed to screw up half of the reps (not getting a proper bounce because I was afraid of hitting the bars). Bench Press 135 lbs. – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 Decided to go ahead and alternate bench and press instead of pressing exclusively. LBS 155 lbs. – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 Main goal while the weight is light is trying to develop some muscle memory. During deadlifts the previous workout, I realized I wasn’t doing a very good job setting my lower back, but I got a feel for it once I got that worked out. Goal for squats is to make sure I apply that, since I’m starting to think that I was missing some of the basics before. But again…my conditioning…wow. It’ll improve rapidly, but still. Oooooooooook I’m back. I was pretty regular about getting to the gym up until the middle of February, when I stopped completely to pound out the last two weeks of studying for the bar. But now that I’m done with that, I can start again. During that time, I ended up switching back to low bar squats, because my knees were giving me trouble. HBS 165 (+10) – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 This was probably ill-advised because my tendon was upset because of the temp change, but it seems to have gone okay, and I have a two day break coming up. Will resume five pound jumps from here on out. Press 135 (+0) – 3×5 – 5, 5, 3 It’s coming back, but slowly. HBS 155 (+0) – 3×5 – 5, 5, 5 Was surprised I wasn’t sore at all, until I was done with these. Press 135 (+0) – 3×5 – 5, 4, 0 Definitely should have started lower, but it should come back pretty okay. I don’t know if it has to do with how I’ve been studying (posture and what not), but my traps have been killing me enough to have a small impact on these. So I’ll have to break out the lacrosse ball.

Took nearly a three week break for the holidays so that I could get moved and get settled in for the next two months of studying. No idea what my weight is right now. I’ve done a pretty good job of not gorging myself (but I have been eating like shit). Fairly certain I’m about the same weight I was before Christmas, but not sure…and it doesn’t really matter. Got a free seven day pass to a nearby 24 Hour Fitness. 198 again, but it’s okay, because the next day I weighed in at 196. And I’ve been eating carbs, so doesn’t bother me. I’m pretty much done with the diet for a few weeks. Couldn’t keep it together this week, for reasons like finishing my paper and packing and moving (all in a four or five day span). I wasn’t going to go at all (little sleep, and spent the rest of the time finishing my paper, so I was unmotivated) but then my girlfriend told me she was going, so I figured I’d go.
